At the MCA: Living Art, Country and Culture

Artwork by David Noonan Mnemosyne.

At the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney right now, contemporary art meets Country in powerful and exciting ways. First up is Primavera 2025: Young Australian Artists, a showcase celebrating emerging voices across Australia. It’s full of fresh perspectives work by creative newcomers exploring identity, place, and innovation through paint, video, ceramics, and performance.

Alongside youth and energy, the MCA is also honoring First Nations storytelling and the resilience of contemporary Australia through exhibitions like Warraba Weatherall: Shadow and Substance, the artist’s first solo museum show. Her work bridges Country and canvas with strength, memory, and stunning visual lyricism.

The MCA’s curatorial mission remains clear: to reflect the art of now, diverse, inclusive, and rooted in multiple worlds of experience. It’s a place where Indigenous art is a core story woven through paint, sculpture, installation, and language.

Never disappoints and always one of my favourite places to visit! For anyone in Sydney who values creativity that’s bold, grounded, and alive, this is a must-visit cultural moment.
